"icky" is infantilizing and gross and rings about 28 alarm bells, but that aside, self-defense is not the problem. you can’t blame women for wanting to feel safe and in control. education about consent is necessary, and can exist in addition to self-defense training.

acting as if they’re mutually exclusive is so incredibly dense

"should not have to" =/= "should not be given the skills to"

    WAKE UP WORLD #YesAllWomen

That steak analogy is my favorite,

I love the guy set on fire one. I mean, if someone set him on fire purposefully, that’s not right. But the comments are so amazing. I think it’s an eye opener

I’m a rape survivor and a volunteer counselor, and this sickens me. All this violence doesn’t do any good. I’m more disgusted by this generations form o “Social Justice” and “Feminism” than I was watching several gore films and even the banned porn film Animal Farm. That’s right these people sicken me more than Bestiality porn.

It really bugs me when people post things without sources.  Because I think many of us have seen that last image after somebody with actual statistics and brains got done reviewing it.

    Also.  Oh look

    http://www.fearus.org/#sthash.WgFlvA0F.dpbs

Oops.  Looks like that study took place in 1979, Jacqueline Goodchilds doesn’t exist, and (and I quote)

"However, the data in the picture that has been circulating has been misrepresented.  The original study did not ask "Yes" or "No", but asked subjects on a five point scale.  Unfortunately I have not been able to find out specifically what each point was, other than at the two extremes were "Yes" and "No".  For more information, see the infograph/chart below.  -  See more at:  http://www.fearus.org/#sthash.wgFlva0F.dpuf

So “fearus.org” didn’t even fucking exist back then.  The domain was actually BOUGHT because of that faulty link to disprove the statistic’s bullshit.

This is why I don’t respect people like the OP.  Because they spread bullshit and think they’re in the right.

That survey was iffy, but Jacqueline Goodchilds exists and the page you linked to clearly says that

Is Jacqueline Goodchilds a real person?

I can tell you that Jacqueline Goodchilds does exist and is a Professor Emerita, Psychology at UCLA. She is affiliated with UCLA’s Center for the Study of Women. For more information, check out the Goodchilds info page.

I actually don’t have a problem with most of this but that quote from STFUEverything (which is out of place IMO) perfectly demonstrates why I’m critical of a lot of movement feminism, specifically sex positive feminism. She acts like the “be sexy but not sexual” double standard is universally experienced by all women and refused to consider, when I called her on it, that women who aren’t sexual are also shamed and devalued under patriarchy. People claim to be “intersectional feminists” but they shout down other women, even other feminists, even non-heterosexual feminists, whose experiences don’t match their views.

woman: “my boyfriend coerces me into sex that i don’t want… help?”
sex pozzies: “he just has a bigger sex drive than you - let him sleep with other women :) problem solved!”

I had a wonderful human being (a polyvangelist) tell me that since I’m asexual, I needed to let my husband sleep with other people or else I was abusing him. (He’s asexual, too.)

can we just talk about male assault for a second
and how shit like this is why men are less likely to report being raped because society tells them that they “got lucky” or whatever the fuck bullshit that is
and how there’s people like this who think that’s just the funniest shit they’ve ever heard
not to mention that “joke,” meaning that if you don’t enjoy being raped by the opposite gender then well you MUST be gay
hilarious. sexual assault is so fucking hilarious. wow, you’re all comedy geniuses; your parents must be so damn proud.
because absolutely none of this is funny.

Uggghhhhh our local mugshots paper currently has a mugshot of a “hot” woman with the caption “Alleged Student Rapist” above it and “AWESOME!” printed across the photo.
I hate this shit so much.

A feminist group at Oberlin College pulled a random freshman’s name and declared him “rapist of the month”, and put his name and picture n wanted posters and distributed them around campus. When asked about it, a sophemore in the groups said, “So many women get their lives totally ruined by being assaulted and not saying anything. So if one guy gets his life ruined, maybe it balances out.”
No, it doesn’t balance out, you fucking misandrist asshole. If you support this, fuck you! If you agree with the student, fuck you!

what the fuck this is disgusting

They should be sued for slander. This is not okay.

oh my god no they should be arrested for trying to send a mob after this kid for no goddamned reason.

Yea but i doubt they will. at most i can only see them, or the school, getting sued for pretty much ruining this kids life. This makes people who were really raped less likely to be believed as well.
So if they dont care about RUINING AND INNOCENT PERSONS LIFE FOR BEING MALE. They SHOULD care about fucking over victims because of there fucked up and stupid actions.
People that think this shit is okay deserve to be punched in the throat. Hard.

Do they not realise that false claim after false claim is what causes them to not be believed?

1. This happened 20 years ago. How did OP even find this article? Were you scouring news archives for instances of false rape accusations? Because that’s kind of suspicious. If it really happened as often as MRAs claim, you wouldn’t need to dredge up an article that’s probably older than you are.
2. They did not choose him “at random”. It was a case of mistaken identity. They were trying to target an alleged rapist with a similar name. Is that fucked up? Absolutely. And it’s also fucked up that the feminist group didn’t apologize and instead pulled this eye-for-an-eye bullshit. But it does not help your cause at all to flat-out misrepresent their motives when the information is right there in the article you linked.
EDIT: Apparently this was posted as some kind of bait for MRAs, to see if they could read an article properly.

'Rape culture' is the normalization of sexual violence against women, treating it like something that just happens and blaming or shaming the victims. You see it in the news: If you can replace 'rape' with 'rain' and the story still works, that's rape culture. Was the woman wearing too little? Out too late? Would she have been fine if she'd stayed at home reading a nice book on etiquette for ladies?

Some of my followers might be sick of this, but it’s worth repeating over and over and over and over.

Just because one woman feels empowered by being in the sex industry, does not mean that it’s good for women as a class.

89 percent of the women in the sex industry would leave if they had means for survival.

73 percent of women in prostitution have been raped more than 5 times.

The sex industry is extremely harmful to women. Your positive personal experience in the industry does not cancel out the harm that other women have experienced.
